Update to PECOS, Medicare Enrollment System

Medicare is a government-funded healthcare program that provides coverage to millions of Americans. Medicare providers play an essential role in ensuring that beneficiaries receive quality care. However, becoming a Medicare provider can be a time-consuming and complicated process. This is why the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has redesigned the Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS) to make the enrollment process easier and faster.

Starting this summer, PECOS will feature a Consolidated Application that will allow large health systems and chains to enroll or update information across multiple states or enrollments with a single application. With this feature, providers will no longer have to fill out separate applications for each enrollment, reducing errors and inconsistencies and minimizing repetitive tasks. PECOS will automatically send the submitted application to the appropriate Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) for processing, making the enrollment process faster and more efficient.

Another feature of the new PECOS is pre-population, which will streamline data entry. PECOS will keep information like names, licenses, locations, ownership, and more for every individual and organization in a single national profile. You'll be able to easily view this information across enrollments, and it'll be pre-populated for new applications. This will ensure consistent and accurate information across applications, making it easier for providers to manage their enrollments and associates.

Applying to become a Medicare provider has never been easier, with PECOS offering consistent and accurate information across applications, reduced errors and inconsistencies, easier management of enrollments and associates, faster enrollment process, and minimized repetitive tasks.
